Grilled Strawberry French Toast Casserole

featuring our Hawaiian Loaf Bread

Yields 1 Casserole

Ingredients

  • 16 Slices of Nature’s Own Hawaiian Bread

  • 1 lb Strawberries

  • 8 Large Eggs

  • 1 tsp Salt

  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract

  • 2 cups Whole Milk

  • 1 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon

  • 1/2 Cup Maple Syrup

  • 1/4 Cup Powdered Sugar

  • Top with Maple Syrup and Whipped Cream

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, add the eggs, milk, vanilla, and ground cinnamon. Whisk until well combined.

  2. Cut the bread slices in half, horizontally. Place them into a 9”x13” pan with the crusts facing up.

  3. Ladle the milk and egg mixture evenly over the top of the sliced bread. Allow to sit for 20-30 minutes so that the bread can soak up the mixture.

  4. Turn your grill to 350 degrees. Add the pan to the grill with the lid closed and bake up for 45 minutes.

  5. While the French Toast casserole bakes, slice up the strawberries, removing the stems.

  6. At the 45-minute mark, add the sliced strawberries between some of the slices and to the top of the casserole.

  7. Drizzle the 1/2 cup of maple syrup evenly to the top of the French toast. Close the lid and let it cook for an additional 10 minutes.

  8. Remove the pan from the grill and dust the top of the casserole with powdered sugar.

  9. Served up several slices on each plate and top with additional maple syrup, powdered sugar, and whipped cream.
