A Slice of Hope

Nature’s Own is supporting the Make-A-Wish® mission to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses through a $500,000 donation to grant wishes for wish kids over 2025 and 2026 through their “Slice of Hope” partnership.

Aden’s Wish Story

When donors like you support Make-A-Wish®, it creates a spark of hope that ignites a world of possibilities for kids facing the unimaginable – kids like nine-year-old Aden. Aden’s fight against lymphoma is not only physically exhausting – it feels scary. When his wish was granted, everything began to change as the scary feelings went away and his energy levels reached new heights.

His wish? To go on an epic fishing trip. Aden traveled with his family to Lake Anna in Virginia for a week full of fishing and fun. With the help of the local fishing community, including pro and semi-pro fishermen, Aden and his family were taken to the best fishing spots on the lake. During his first day on the water, Aden had already caught his first fish by 8 a.m., and it only got better from there. From learning new fishing tips and catching a 4.8-pound bass to cruising around the lake in a top-of-the-line bass boat, Aden couldn’t have dreamt up a better experience if he tried. But if you asked him what the best part of his wish was, he’d tell you it was making new friendships that he feels will last a lifetime.

“We enjoyed watching the boys with huge smiles as they reeled in big fish and laughed and talked with the fishermen,” said Aden’s parents. “The entire fishing community welcomed us as if we were family, and we are truly grateful to all that made this wish come true for Aden.”

Joanna’s Wish Story

Five-year-old Joanna from Center Valley is filled to the brim with creativity. Her diagnosis of congenital heart disease never dims her growing imagination. Joanna loves to play outside and invent new games to play each day. Her dog and best friend, Jake, is always included in the action and together they make lifelong memories. Like any princess, pink is her absolute favorite color and makes every picture Joanna colors ten times better. Joanna also has a fascination with other cultures, Hawaii being the one that she studies most. Joanna’s favorite book in the whole world is A is for Aloha, which is a Hawaiian alphabet book that teaches things from the meaning of Aloha to what types of flowers grow there.

Joanna knew exactly what she wanted to do with her wish too. She both told and showed her volunteers that she would like to learn the hula with Minnie. Now the hard part of waiting begins. Joanna has a countdown till November, but is also using her time to learn more about her wish. She is most excited to visit Aunty’s Beach House. It is a place for children to spend their days with island native, Aunty. Aunty has lived there for many years so she shares her stories, songs, and crafts with everyone. Joanna is thrilled she will be able to learn more about beautiful Hawaii and have fun doing all the activities with other kids her age. It is sure to be a treat and she cannot wait for her wish to begin.

Soon Joanna’s wish will come true. Hopefully it will let her de-stress from her illness. Joanna knows there is magic in everyday and is so ready to feel what it is like for a wish to come true.
