Stuffed French Toast Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1 Tbsp granulated sugar

  • 2 tsp vanilla

  • 12 Nature’s Own Brioche Style Butter Rolls, split

  • 5 Tbsp butter

  • 12 Refrigerated precooked sausage patties

  • 1/4 Cup pure maple syrup

  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

 
 

Directions:

1.   Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat a 13x9 inch baking pan with cooking spray. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla. Dip each bun half in egg mixture, turning to coat. On a griddle or nonstick skillet, melt 1 Tbsp. butter over medium heat. Add buns and cook 1 - 2 minutes on each side or until browned. Set aside and continue cooking until all buns have been browned (maybe extra egg mixture).

2.   Arrange bun bottoms in an even layer in prepared pan. Top with sausage patties and bun tops. Melt remaining 1/4 cup butter and add maple syrup and cinnamon. Pourover French toast sandwiches. Bake about 20 minutes or until heated through. Spoon any syrup from pan over sandwiches to serve.

Make-Ahead Tip: 

Once sandwiches have been assembled, but before the topping is made, cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate up to 24 hours. Just before baking, prepare the topping. Pour over and bake as above.
