Caprese Sandwiches

Feed your Italian craving with this light sandwich that features fresh mozzarella, ripe juicy tomatoes and flavorful basil.

Servings: 4 | Ready in: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

slices Nature’s Own 12-Grain Bread, toasted

ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, cut into 8 slices

2

ripe medium tomatoes, cut into 1/4-inch slices

1

tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil

1/4

teaspoon salt or to taste

pepper, to taste

4-6

large fresh basil leaves, torn into small pieces

1)

Place 2 cheese slices on each of 4 bread slices; top evenly with tomatoes.

Drizzle tomatoes with oil; sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Top evenly with basil and remaining bread slices.

Tailgating Tactics: Just before packing cooler, slice cheese and tomatoes. Pack cheese, tomatoes, basil and oil in separate containers; place in cooler. Toast bread and wrap in foil. At tailgating site, assemble sandwiches and serve immediately.
